The routing of the LDP in Okinawa in the August elections to the Upper House, and the huge numbers of Okinawans who attended the island wide demonstration against text-book censorship have greatly reinvigorated the campaign for US-Japanese democratic accountability in their war preparations in Okinawa.
Futenma-Henoko Action Network is more than delighted to be part of this resurgence, but we are also well aware that without consistent pressure, the US and Japanese governments will keep Okinawa in the destruction zone, both in terms of the welfare of the islands' residents and their environmental heritage.
